In this module, we'll outline a comprehensive approach to the work up and management of a patient presenting with tinnitus, and explore two common causes: age-related and noise-induced tinnitus with associated hearing loss. We will explain how to use the history and physical exam to the utmost to come up with a relevant list of differential diagnoses, followed up using investigative tools and methods to finalize a definitive diagnosis. You will also develop a strong appreciation for improving the quality of life of a patient with tinnitus and educating the patient on the latest research in therapy and symptom management.
