In this module on Localized Edema, we will present the causes, consequences and treatment of localized edema, and what you cannot afford to miss at first presentation. You will be able to recognize and interpret clinical finding suspicious for a DVT, risk stratify the patient and to assess for complications of a DVT such as a pulmonary embolus. Investigative tools such as a D-Dimer and Doppler Ultrasonography will be discussed, as well as their diagnostic usefulness. Finally, we will teach you to develop a constructive management plan and to counsel the patient on therapy and important complications.
