In this module, we will discuss the assessment of a patient with a chest injury using the Advance Trauma Life Support protocol. You will learn the two phases, both the primary survey and the secondary survey in detail, and how it relates to chest injuries. You will learn the management of the various types of mechanisms of injury, including blunt and penetrating trauma, and how to determine the various pathologies that can arise through a focused history and examination. These pathologies include flail chest, tension pneumothorax, hemothorax, hemopericardium, and blunt aortic injury.
