Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to evaluate patients presenting with concerns relating to sexual development. Participants will be able to recall the stages of Tanner Staging System for males and females. The learner will be able to distinguish between causes of both precocious and delayed puberty. Furthermore, the learner will be able to carry out a focused history and physical examination for the patient presenting with abnormal pubertal development. Participants will be able to list relevant investigations to order, including blood tests and imaging, to help determine a diagnosis. Finally, the learner will be able to formulate a management plan for the patient presenting with abnormal pubertal development and recognize when to refer to a paediatric endocrinologist.
